Memorotic gate.

“Y’know, you’re not very good at this. It seemed like it’d be more fun.”
Ravial twisted his head to look at his mate.
“What do you mean by that? What did I do?”
“Well, it’s not really what you did, it’s what you didn’t. I thought that you might get more exciting after we chose each other, but you’re still as quiet as ever.”
“That’s…” He sighed. “I can’t help it, I’m that way by nature. I don’t fly around and steal things from people, like you do.”
Megiat hopped to the side of her partner and lifted his arm, revealing long black feathers, previously hidden against his dark suit.
“Then what are these for? All you do is sit in our tree and stare at people all day. I’m done being patient with you.”
Ravial’s bright amber eyes shifted to look at his feet. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know that it was hurting us so badly.  I’ve just been trying to stay out of your way.”
His eyes lifted themselves from the ground, and fixed upon the girl in front of him. “Can you wait for me for just a while longer?”
Megiat sniffed. “Just because I’ve got your kids inside of me,” She tapped her stomach.  “You think you can get off the hook? Sorry, but I’ve taken this from better men then you.”
“No! That’s really not it at all! I truly care for you. What can I do to prove that?”
“Hmm.  Fine then. Y’know that earring of yours that I’ve always fancied? Cut it out of your ear. I wanna see you bleed.” She smiled sadistically at him, her eyes obscured by shining dark blue bangs.
Ravial stared into her face for a few seconds, then pulled a knife from the sheath on his back.
Quickly, but deliberately, he carved around the area of his ear that had been requested, and removed the sparkling red jewel from the section that it had occupied.
Megiat had changed expression from euphoric pleasure, to horror, and when she was presented with the gem she had stared at for months, he face turned a deep shade of red.
“Y-you idiot. Why’d you do that? No girl is gonna look at you now.” She stammered, her hidden eyes watching the pool of blood form on his shoulder, and run down into the breast pocket of the pitch black suit.
He looked at her curiously. “Really? Then what are you?”
“What do you mean? I really didn’t think you’d be this stu-”
“You’re much prettier when I can see your eyes.” He interjected, parting the spikes of hair on his mate’s face, revealing muted grey eyes.
“I knew it. That’s much better.” He said, nodding in approval. Then, looking away, he mumbled. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have interrupted you.”
Megiat said nothing as Ravial focused on the dots of blood appearing on the brim of his pocket, threatening to drip onto his shoes.
“You always apologize.”
She stepped forward, wrapping her arms around his head and pushing it into her shoulder. The pocket of blood was squeezed out, and warmth through their bodies.
“Are you still angry at me?” Ravial asked, inhaling the scent of fresh blood.
Megiat smiled and grabbed a tuft of his hair. Pulling his head back, she whispered in his ear.
“You’re bad at this game.”
I really like this.
Especially the characters. I want to expand upon them. Go Bird people romance!
I submitted as teen, because they kind of are. In a bird-person way.
